Dewey Weber (1938-1993) was an American professional surfer and surfboard shaper. He became a surfing sensation in the 1950s and is considered to be one of the pioneers of California surfing. He was known for his aggressive style and was one of the first surfers to incorporate aerial maneuvers into his surfing.
In the 1960s, Weber began shaping surfboards under his own name, and his company, "Dewey Weber Surfboards," became one of the biggest surfboard manufacturers in the world. He was also known for his innovative designs and was the first to introduce the "pig" shape, which is now a staple in modern surfboard design.
Weber was inducted into the Surfing Hall of Fame in 1992, a year before his death from pancreatic cancer. He is remembered as one of the greatest surfers and shapers of all time and his legacy continues to inspire surfers and shapers around the world.
